Dandadan Season 2 Episode 8 Review: Okarun’s Rhythm-Fueled Breakthrough & Explosive Showdown Setup

Dive into the electrifying world of Dandadan Season 2, Episode 8—"You Can Do It, Okarun!"—a high-energy blend of surreal visuals, emotional growth, and humor-driven action.

Episode Highlights

1. A Training Arc Like No Other

Under the bizarre tutelage of Turbo Granny, Okarun and Aira sign up for a bizarre combat lesson program of a most singular kind—a fight against spirit phantom drawings that shoot spinning explosive musical-note bursts. Rather than the typical "stronger" program, it's a fever-dream montage of a kind that subverts the typical "grow stronger" cliche.

2. Visual Storytelling at Its Peak

Science Saru dishes up one of the most visually gorgeous episodes to date. Rich in color, once Okarun gets into a groove—monochromatic static shots turn into color, it becomes the music. Its montage work is mesmerizing, mesmerizing the viewer into the fray.

But Why Tho?

3. Rhythm as Power

Okarun stumbles at first: musical notes break up into pieces when they land, rest notes break up his focus, and his yokai physique loses strength. Turbo Granny's tip? "Move with rhythm." This causes Okarun to tune in to the rhythm of a song he likes—HAYASii—and reverse the battle. He dodges perfectly, rescues Aira, and clears out a string of tulpas at once with a rhythmic, full-tilt onslaught.

As for Aira, neutralizing massive giant illusions through skillful movement, it maintains the couple in concord and furnishes the double heroic performance.

4. Cliffhanger Setup & Emotional Resonance

With the tulpas defeated, Okarun thanks Aira—and Turbo Granny explains how fear that created paintings called forth ghostly foes. The action moves to Momo's house, where Manjiro forebodes that the Evil Eye's hold on Jiji may be unbreakable. Okarun waits for a second showdown with the Evil Eye, ready to face it head-on.
